Adolescent Friendly Research Initiative and Care (ADOLFRIC) is a Nigeria-based clinically and research-oriented youth-supported non-governmental organization (NGO) that adopts a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to provide socially acceptable, accessible, affordable and evidence- based holistic care to adolescent boys and girls in the area of sexual and reproductive health. The care rendered is preventive, curative and rehabilitative in nature; the organization achieves this through the collaborative efforts of her four major departments: Administration; Clinical Services with Telemedicine; Youth-led Advocacy Wing; and ADOLFRIC Research Hub.

Founding ADOLFRIC was consequent upon the appreciation of the huge burden of adolescent sexual and reproductive health challenges in Ekiti State, Nigeria and worldwide. The NGO, ADOLFRIC, has decided to take the bull by the horn by collaborating with professionals, experts and stakeholders in various fields and ministries (health, education, women’s affairs, youth and culture) and other related NGOs to provide preventive, curative and rehabilitative reproductive healthcare to these needy adolescents in order to actualize their sexual and reproductive health rights.

In order to achieve this goal, the founder, Prof. Olofinbiyi Babatunde Ajayi, a reproductive health expert working within Ekiti Community, decided to conceptualize strategies for adolescent sexual and reproductive health development in the State which culminated in the founding of ADOLFRIC in 2017. To actualize his vision, he invited, consulted with and sought support of some concerned philanthropists and Ekiti-related citizens (tagged Ekiti 5 for Adolescent Development; EK-5-AD) who volunteered to share the vision with him.

The team brainstormed on making Ekiti State a pace-setter in the translation of adolescent reproductive health policies to action and practice. As a result, these individuals took the initiative to kickstart the project by not only offering logistical support but also supplying the initial funding needed for the organization to commence its operations. Additionally, a significant portion of the required funds came from the Eden Life Specialist Hospital, which is the inaugural adolescent-friendly hospital in the region. This hospital continues to be an essential asset for the medical aspect of ADOLFRIC's endeavors.
