Dr. Bamidele Paul Atiba, a UK-based practising physician, worked as a Senior Medical Officer at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, Nigeria; during which he served as the Quality Improvement Manager at the institution, having completed a Basic Certificate Course in Quality and Safety from the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI), Boston, United States of America. He bagged his medical degree (MBChB) and Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Prior to his medical training, he had a first degree in Microbiology (Second Class Upper) from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He has undergone certificate courses on STI/HIV research, global health, public health leadership and management, adolescent health, project management and implementation, including implementation research organized by international organizations like the WHO, USAID, TDR, UNICEF, United Nations University, Monash University, Malaysia, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and University of Washington. His combination of excellent clinical acumen, health advocacy, research skills, oratory skills, adolescent mentorship, public health programme planning and implementation distinguishes him. He was a UNICEF/NYSC Peer Educator on HIV/AIDS and Adolescent Reproductive Health and has worked with the WHO as an ad-hoc staff in the past. Dr Bamidele Paul Atiba has assumed many leadership roles in the past including being the Vice President of the Association of Resident Doctors, Ido-Ekiti, member of the Epidemics and Emergency Response Committee, Constitution Review Committee and the Assistant Secretary of the Nigerian Medical Association, Ekiti State Branch. He is currently the Secretary of NMA Ekiti State Branch and a member of the National Executive Council of the Association. He is a regular resource person/guest on local radio and television, where he gives health talk, awareness and education on relevant topical health issues. He has published papers in peer reviewed journals. He is happily married to his amiable wife; Olayemi, who is a great pillar of support for him with two wondrous children.
