
Mrs Olapeju Babafemi was the former and the first female Head of Service of Ekiti State and the serving Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development.Mrs Olapeju Babafemi was the former and the first female Head of Service of Ekiti State. She also served as the Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Ministry of Women Affairs, Social Development and Gender Empowerment. She was born in Ilesa, Osun-State about 60 years ago to the family of Late Chief and Mrs. Samuel Owoeye. Mrs. Babafemi has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, in 1984 and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the same University. She also has a degree in Law from the University of Ado-Ekiti now Ekiti State University, and a Master's Degree in Social Work from the same University. Currently, she’s a visiting Research Fellow at King’s College, University of London. She started her career as an Administrative Officer in the old Ondo State and moved to Ekiti State at its creation in 1996. This woman of virtues has served meritoriously in various ministries and departments where she distinguished herself with her exemplary life of pleasant character, humility, diligence, honesty and commitment to the ethics of the Civil Service. In Year 2009, Mrs. Babafemi was honored as the most distinguished senior officer of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the same year she was appointed as Permanent Secretary. This distinguished civil servant served in various committees in the Civil Service and attended workshops and programs locally and in countries such as South Africa, Ethiopia, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. On the recommendation of the Ekiti State Justice Advisory Committee, Mrs Peju Babafemi was appointed Justice of Peace by the Governor in 2004. She was the pioneer Editor - In - Chief of the Fountain Bureaucrat - the Journal of Ekiti State Civil Service between 2010 and 2014, and later served as the Publisher. An ordained minister of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Mrs Babafemi, a social worker, is passionate about women development, youth mentoring and development. She also has a strong passion for community service and is presently the Vice-Chairman of her Community Association: Ireakari Estate Landlords/ Landladies Association, Ado - Ekiti. She is a member of the Governing Council of Redeemer’s International Secondary School Ado - Ekiti. She retired as Head of Service of Ekiti State in 2022. She is happily married to Pastor Ola Babafemi, a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God and they are blessed with wonderful children.
