UNION BANK OF NIGERIA CSR AWARD, 2019

ADOLFRIC was the winner of 2019 Union Bank Enabling Success for NGOs award for Ekiti State.Out of over 21,000 nominations across the 36 states of the country, ADOLFRIC emerged the winner in Ekiti State; this attracted an appreciable grant which went a long way to bridge some economic gaps in the activities of the young and emerging NGO. ADOLFRIC is highly challenged and inspired by this unique, life-touching and unprecedented humanitarian gesture of the Union Bank of Nigeria.

RESEARCH SUCCESS

ADOLFRIC RESEARCH HUB, a young and growing research unit of ADOLFRIC, in a bid to fulfill and sustain the research-oriented goal of the organization, has published 22 original research articles in both local and international learned journals; two completed and ready to be sent for publication; and four ongoing (Access more information on this by clicking on ‘Research Hub’ of the website.

HEALTH FACILITY PARTNER OF ADOLFRIC

Eden Life Specialist Hospital CSR Unit, Ekiti State, Nigeria; Partnering with ADOLFRIC to render holistic reproductive health support to her adolescent and young adult population:

• In partial fulfillment of ADOLFRIC’s goal of curative and rehabilitative reproductive health function to adolescent victims of reproductive health challenges, the organization is collaborating with the CSR units of volunteered facilities (under MOU); the first of which is Eden Life Specialist Hospital Ado-Ekiti. By this collaboration, the NGO has delivered 11 teen mothers, who have been rehabilitated back to normal life; 7 of which are presently in-school. Two of these pregnancies resulted from rape.


• The hospital will magnanimously extend this gesture and support to other areas of adolescent reproductive health by the 1st of December, 2021.


• ADOLFRIC is also actively working on incorporating other health facilities willing to be compliant with the terms of operation of the organization as stated in Memorandum of Understanding

An ADOLFRIC’s client (with her parents), a pregnant 14-year-old Senior Secondary School 1 student during her antenatal booking visit. She was subsequently delivered of a live baby. She has been taken back to school, getting set for Secondary School Certificate Examination. In attendance were her uncle, mother, the CEO of ADOLFRIC and Director of Clinical Services of ADOLFRIC.

• Four of the delivered teen mothers that were from very poor socioeconomic background and grossly financially handicapped were absorbed by ADOLFRIC and (with the consent of their parents) inducted as peer educators; the occasion was attended by many government dignitaries.
• Orente Rita, one of the inductees collecting her certificate; being handed over to her by a former Tutor General of Ekiti State, Mrs. Arogundade Oluwatoyin Anike.
• The four inducted teen mothers have since been on the monthly pay roll of ADOLFRIC for 2 years.
• While two of the four inducted peer educators, Orente Rita and Bidemi Bolaji are fully being sponsored in school by ADOLFRIC, the other two, Damilola and Aminat are awaiting admission.

The visit of the Directorate of Human Development and Counseling of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria, lead by the Director of the unit, Professor Omolayo; the purpose of the visit was to establish a collaboration with ADOLFRIC in the area of sexual and reproductive health and girl-child child education support; and with the university pledging its readiness to give preference and support to ADOLFRIC candidates seeking admission to the university following adverse reproductive health challenges like teenage pregnancy and gender-based violence. In attendance was our Orente Rita who had just written her University Qualifying Examination (UTME), anticipating getting admitted into the university; and two other ADOLFRIC beneficiaries taken back to high schools, Aminat and Bidemi.

ADOLFRIC TEENAGE PREGNANCY PREVENTION AND GIRL-CHILD EDUCATION SUPPORT INITIATIVE:2021

The Celebration of the success of a member of the first set of ADOLFRIC beneficiaries under ADOLFRIC Teenage Pregnancy Prevention and Girl-child educator support, Orente Rita, having been offered provisional admission into federal University Oye Ekiti to study her preferred and first course of choice (Sociology). Orente Rita, from a poor socio-economic background, was hit by a barrage of reproductive health-related challenges, which was successfully handled by ADOLFRIC. FUOYE’s collaboration with ADOLFRIC became a life blessing for Orente as she would be the first ADOLFRIC beneficiary that would key into the University’s pledge and support for ADOLFRIC girl-child education support following teenage pregnancy. ADOLFRIC is grateful to the Vice chancellor of FUOYE community.

GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE MANAGEMENT AND PREVENTION IN ADOLESCENTS:2018

An ADOLFRIC’s teen client; a mentally challenged girl suspected to be sexually assaulted by an unknown assailant being attended to by ADOLFRIC CEO, Dr Olofinbiyi Babatunde and Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Mrs Babafemi Olapeju(now the Head of Service of Ekiti State).

• No less than 5000 adolescents and young people in Ekiti State have benefited from ADOLFRIC sexual and reproductive health advocacy.
• Areas covered include, secondary schools, universities, core community environments, Christian and Muslim gatherings.

ADOLFRIC SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH ADVOCACY:2019

ADOLFRIC at a large in- school adolescents’ camp involving senior public high school students across all the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State, designed by Eyelua Leadership and Gender Development Initiative (a dynamic NGO in Ekiti State) and in collaboration with ADOLFRIC, Ekiti State Ministries of Education Science and Technology and Youths and Sport development: It was an avenue to give intensive sexual and reproductive health education and information and during which cross sectional cohort studies on the reproductive health needs of Ekiti State in-school adolescents were conducted.

YOUTH AMBASSADOR, ADOLFRIC: EKITI STATE YOUTH AWARD: 2021

ADOLFRIC Youth Ambassador, Olabintan Odunola, emerged as one of the 25 most outstanding Youths in the State, coming up top in the health category and interestingly the only recipient of award in Health; honor being conferred by the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr John Kayode Fayemi: October, 2021.

ADOLFRIC ONE-STOP CARE CENTRE: ADOLESCENT AND YOUTH FRIENDLY CENTRE, ADO-EKITI, NIGERIA (UNDER ADOLFRIC HELP-LINK INITIATIVE)

At present, ADOLFRIC is collaborating with individuals, philanthropists and other relevant stakeholders in the country and outside to build and establish a one-stop Adolescent and Youth Friendly Centre that is specially designed to meet the reproductive health, socio-economic, educational and research needs of the adolescents and young adults of Ekiti State and other States in Nigeria.
