As the world is set to celebrate another Valentine's Day on Feburary 14, 2024, the Chief Executive Officer of Adolescent Friendly Research Initiative and Care , ADOLFRIC, Dr Babatunde Olofinbiyi, has called on adolescents and young adults to celebrate responsibly and avoid actions that could jeopardize thier future. Olofinbiyi raised concerns about how most adolescents and young adults out of ignorance celebrate the day by engaging in indecent, unprotected sex and other vices.

The CEO charged them to display every form of restriction and see love as a sign of respect for self and people around them. The Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology stressed further that the two common and dangerous events marking Valentine's Day are PREMARITAL SEX AND GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE ; and that our adolescents and young adults should remember that premarital sex is the mother of teenage pregnancy, unsafe abortion, death and other long term sociomedical complications affecting the core value, growth and development of women.

The erudite scholar also used the opportunity to call on the general public to treat pregnant teenagers with love and support during their trying period ; and help them in completion of their education. He promised that the organisation would continue to pay high premium in helping adolescents especially the girl -child who may be experiencing tough time in coping with the issues of reproductive health- related stigmatization in the society.
